The badge of honor was established on January 6, 1914 by the Grand Duchess Theodora with the permission of the Grand Duke Wilhelm Ernst of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. The awards went to the nation's midwives, who have done their jobs flawlessly for 25 years. The brooch could not be returned and could be transported even off-duty. The Grand Duchess took on charitable duties as Landesfürstina and took over the protectorate over the Patriotic Institute of Women's Clubs, and later was chief executive of the Central Directorate of Red Cross Women's Clubs in the Grand Duchy. Award data is unknown. Due to the short lease term and small size of the country, the badge of honor is very rare and accordingly expensive.
